Microsoft Corporation Technical Program Manager - Data Systems in Multiple Locations, Costa Rica

This position is 100% remote and it is available to candidates residing in Costa Rica ONLY.

As part of the Xbox Platform & Experiences Commerce (XPC) organization, the Data and AI Team enables all game creators to make data-driven decisions across their games, covering everything from in-game performance to monetization success and strategy. We provide core data capabilities as well as AI enriched insights that help creators power their business. Through our data insight products, creators can increase player engagement, retention and monetization

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager to join the XPC Data & AI Team with a passion to partner across teams and deliver complex technical projects focused on gathering and sharing data from the gaming storefronts. The position offers a unique opportunity to provide game studios with data tools and experiences to develop and grow their market across Xbox.

You will work closely with stakeholders across Xbox and partner studios to ensure that our commerce tools provide necessary data points to help partners monitor and identify opportunities to expand their game’s reach. This role requires a candidate with a passion for driving partnership across teams to deliver great technology solutions, with a focus on ensuring a great customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external game studios, internal stakeholders and engineering teams to understand customer requirements, issues and priorities.

  • Design and lead engineering specifications for flexible and resilient data pipelines for internal and external customers from ingestion through to distribution.

  • Navigate and partner with cross-org engineering teams to drive clarity and prioritize outcomes that align to product direction and strategy.

  • Own compliance requirements and champion for customer privacy considerations.

  • Define success criteria and performance metrics to track and report on project execution.

  • Maintain and prioritize and engineering backlog and provide program level status to gaming leadership.

  • Ensure delivered solutions are stable, supportable, extensible, and trusted by our business partners.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.

  • Expertise in management of complex cross-group, cross-business, cross-disciplinary projects.

  • Expertise building data-led solutions and pipelines.

  • Understanding and experience working in data systems or near real-time data pipelines that drive business intelligence.

  • Availability to partner with other engineering teams in different timezones.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge and previous experience working in the gaming industry

  • Experience as an engineer building highly scalable data products and pipelines.

  • Experience with database query languages such as KQL and SQL.

  • Understanding of cloud-based big data flows and system architecture utilizing Azure Data Explorer, CosmosDB, or equivalent tools.

  • Experience working in game monetization and building business strategy around gaming products

  • Proven ability to develop and manage relationships with customers and partners

  • Demonstrated experience working with other product managers, software engineers, and product marketing teams throughout the product development lifecycle to deliver best-in-class customer experiences.
