Requisition Summary

Work on the next generation of control systems to revolutionize the transportation industry by creating the test equipment that will ensure they perform beyond customer expectation. Work with suppliers and other company members in Europe, Asia and around the United States to design and build and maintain custom test benches to emulate the workings of PACCAR Trucks to various electronic control units. Design the hardware interfaces between controllers and develop Simulink models to create a real world environment for those controllers. With detailed knowledge of the test benches, find ways to increase test efficiency and reliability of the equipment while adding to the overall functionality. As a Senior Controls Engineer you’ll get to mentor junior engineers in how to make model updates and troubleshoot system issues while providing expertise on test process and capability to other engineers and managers to direct future investments.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts projects of small to large scope with minimal supervision.

  • Develops complex test equipment designs and software models (Matlab/Simulink) to support testing of on target embedded software as part of complex embedded vehicle control system

  • Provides direction and feedback to software developers to create high quality test automation software

  • Self directs time to create efficiency improvements for themselves and others in the department

  • Fosters excellent communications with suppliers, peers and junior engineers to collaborate and disseminate information throughout the company and supplier ecosystems.

  • Establishes and maintains cooperative and productive work relations with other working groups and departments.

  • Local travel in the Puget Sound area up to 10%, domestic and international travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

  • 5+ Years of progressive experience in test development and execution for automotive or heavy truck software applications, strong background in test process design and specific experience in driver safety and autonomous systems.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and coordinate between various on and off shore resources to accomplish team goals

  • Familiarity with HPQC, DNG, ETM, SQL, dSpace Scalexio hardware set, dSpace Control Desk, Python, Matlab Simulink Model scripting languages, requirements management tools a plus.

  • Experience with test automation software creation and development

  • Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively

  • Ability to manage personal workload and willingness, flexibility and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands

  • Strong presentation skills

Education

BS Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or applicable field
