Overview

Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta is a member of the Dignity Health system of health care providers and is a not-for-profit medical facility. We are designated as a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital and are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health care Organizations. In addition to our acute care hospital we also own and operate two Rural Health Clinics providing walk-in immediate care as well as scheduled appointments for routine medical needs. We are located in the northernmost area of California and are part of a network of care, including Mercy Medical Center Redding and St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff. Responsibilities

Position Summary:

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Physical Therapist must effectively communicate with patients with musculoskeletal disease, evaluate their conditions and develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans to return them to their optimal level of function. In addition, acts as needed as member of the Hospice interdisciplinary team providing in-home assessment/evaluation, patient/family/caregiver education and in-service training for both staff and volunteers. Must be organized and consistently follow through with responsibilities in a timely manner, especially in documentation. Superior performance in this position involves, people skills and customer orientation while simultaneously solving problems in an independent manner. Incumbent is expected to work independently under broad directives and may have responsibility for specific area(s) of clinical expertise. This job has the potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience treating acute inpatients, outpatients and skilled nursing facility resident

  • Graduate of accredited physical therapist program

  • Trainingsufficient to remain current in career field

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with others in a team setting that is sometimes stressful

  • Empathy and sensitivity to the needs of customers is crucial

  • Must be able to evaluate patient problems and needs, within the physical therapist’s scope of care, and to develop appropriate plan of care

  • Advanced level skills in delivery of patient care and clinical/community education programs

  • Current California Registered Physical Therapist license

  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
