Google Visual Designer, Devices and Services in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience in product design or UX.

  • Experience implementing visual design systems across platforms in an iterative software development environment, applying design tools (e.g., Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch).

  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization, with 2 years of experience leading design projects.

  • 1 year of experience working with executive leaders.

  • Experience in conceiving and documenting solutions through personas, user journeys, storyboards, value propositions and sketches.

  • Ability to communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale within a user-centered design process, succeed in ambiguity and conceptualize new ideas.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for platforms such as desktop and mobile.

  • Passion for design as well as emerging trends, products, and technology.

As a Visual Designer, you’ll rely on user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences—from concept to execution. Like all of our UX jobs, you’ll collaborate with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative, inspired products that people love to use.

Seed Studio is an innovation and design studio within Google Hardware Design working in the intersection of design strategy, advanced concepts, and creative to grasp and inform a future of human-centered technology.

As a Visual Designer, you will rely on user-centered design methods to craft exceptional user experiences, from concept to execution. You will collaborate with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative, inspired products that people love to use.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Mature and evolve the notion of framework by collaborating with other leads to form a cohesive offering across Google products.

  • Work across programs to define, maintain, and evolve the tools, processes, and communication around asset management.

  • Leverage principal contributors to explore concept development to influence product, a point-of-view around visual style, and product commitments.

  • Defend Google products, our brand promise, and its unique value proposition amid an interlaced relationship with Google’s main brand.

  • Partner with visual programs within our organization to evolve and apply new design styles and aesthetics for our suite of products.
