Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Mountain View, California

This role is for a motivated Senior Software Engineer with a background in C#, WPF, Powershell, and CI/CD Pipeline development. You will create frameworks and platforms which power our codebase for validation and manufacturing, working closely with hardware teams to ensure our product meets its functional and performance goals. You will contribute to the design of test executive software, data acquisition firmware, data collection infrastructure, and manufacturing codebases of our products, including feature development to enable Azure based features for deployment and data analytics. Your code will touch every device in Mixed Reality, and focus on streamlining and magnifying the impact of the team.

This is expected to be a hands-on role, where you will have the opportunity to work with a cross functional team of extremely talented engineers to deliver innovation at scale and enable delivery of product across Mixed Reality Hardware.

You have proficient C# programing skills, experience with Azure Synapse and Fabric, secure code development, build pipeline optimization and secure infrastructure development. You will have been exposed to model design frameworks, and MVVM design patterns (such as PRISM). You will be building the stable infrastructure that the rest of the team will rely on.

The candidate should have technical leadership skills, coding skills, debugging and troubleshooting abilities, with experience in deploying Azure connected features.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.

  • Leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.

  • Leads by example and mentors others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products.

  • Leverages subject-matter expertise of cross-product features with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items.

  • Holds accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), mentoring engineers across products/solutions, working on-call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.

  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in C# development and build pipeline

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience in WPF application development

  • Experience with MVVM design patterns (such as PRISM)

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
