PACCAR Inc. Vehicle and Powertrain Simulation Manager - Thermo-fluid and System Analysis in Mount Vernon, Washington
The Vehicle and Powertrain Simulation Manager is a position within the Advanced Technologies organization at the PACCAR Technical Center. This position will manage a team conducting computational simulations on efficiency, performance, and thermos-fluids topics in supporting development of PACCAR products. Responsibilities include leading efforts in advanced modeling and analysis methods development, model correlation and validation to improve fidelity and performance, supporting requirements set up and providing design guidance. The position will engage with other divisions (Kenworth, Peterbilt, DAF and others) as well as external organizations in collaborative activities. Job Functions / Responsibilities Lead vehicle and powertrain simulation activities related with performance, efficiency, and thermo-fluids in multiple product development programs. Manage efforts in guiding requirement development, component selection as well as design iterations. Oversee validation and improvement of model fidelity as well as analysis process. Develop and retain talents in engineering disciplines by coaching and counseling the team members. Be a bridge between the team and the senior management for clear communication and performance management. Manage department budget. Qualifications & Skills 7+ years of automotive industry related experience. 2+ years of experience with analysis (1-D and/or 3-D CFD) for vehicle and powertrain systems. 2+ years of experience in managerial and/or supervisory role. Solid thermodynamics background, particularly on energy storage, transfer, and recovery. Excellent fundamentals in conventional diesel and e-powertrain technologies, including batteries and electric machines. Good understanding of design optimization, edge case identification. Excellent documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated for challenges and innovation Preferred Qualifications & Skills Program management experience. Component / System design or concept development experience.
