PACCAR Inc. Engine Compliance Engineer in Mount Vernon, Washington
Requisition Summary PACCAR Technical Center seeks a motivated engineer to join the Engine Production Compliance team. The successful candidate will have knowledge of and lead CARB/EPA agency mandated Manufacturer Self Testing (MST) and Deterioration Factor (DF) validation testing. Engineers with experience in OBD, diesel engine emissions testing, and engine dynamometer testing will be highly valued. Job Functions / Responsibilities Conduct Manufacturer Self-Test as per 13 CCR 1971.5(c) Conduct Deterioration Factor Validation testing as per CFR 1036.246 Research and support acquisition of test articles and materials Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets Coordinate and support engine dynamometer test activities Lead comprehensive analysis of OBD and emissions test data, and escalate issues as soon as they are found Prepare regulatory compliance reports with supporting documentation Provide project status and progress reports to project team, management and regulatory agencies Support regulatory agency discussions and communications Make recommendations for continuous process improvements Keeps abreast of changing EPA and ARB regulatory requirements Collaborates with global engineering teams to build team knowledge, assure compliance, creates and maintains traceable documentation Qualifications Minimum 4years of relevant work experience Strong computer skills - Microsoft Office proficiency required Experience creating technical documentation or process documentation Technical knowledge of automotive powertrain and emission control systems Experience with automotive or heavy-duty On-Board diagnostic systems Experience with measurement, calibration, and analysis tools (e.g., ATI Vision, Vector CANalyzer) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Interested in working in a dynamic organization Understanding of emission / OBD regulations and emission certification procedures preferred Ability to interpret and explain complex technical and regulatory issues preferred Demonstrated curiosity and ability to self-teach Must be self-directed with the ability to manage personal workload and schedule Ability to travel, up to 5 weeks a year, both domestic and international Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical, mechanical, computer or other engineering discipline or computer science required.
