Position Summary:

The Materials for Energy group at Central Michigan University is seeking an enthusiastic Science of Advanced Materials Computational Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on developing advanced battery materials through modeling and simulations. The successful candidate will work with Professor Veronica Barone to study single atom catalysts for improved metal-sulfur batteries and other battery chemistries using density functional theory methods and will work in collaboration with experimentalists in the group.

Required Qualifications:

PhD in Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science, received no later than 6 years before the initial appointment. Experience demonstrated in:  • Density functional theory techniques in extended systems (using VASP , Quantum Espresso, etc.) • Ab-initio molecular dynamics simulation • Solvation methods applied to battery electrodes and catalysis.

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience demonstrated in two or more of the required qualifications listed.
