Associate Athletic Director/Capital Projects, Facilities And Events

Position Summary:\ This position serves as a member of the department\'s senior leadership team and is responsible to lead and organize a comprehensive facilities and event operations unit. The Associate AD performs professional level work directing the activities of the athletic facilities and events unit, and provides a broad range of management, contract administration and services in the development and implementation of capital improvement projects.

Required Qualifications:\ Bachelor's degree.\ Three years of relevant experience.\ Supervisory experience.\ Budget management experience.\ Facility project management experience.\ Effective communication skills, both written and oral.\ Strong organizational skills including attention to detail.\ Demonstrated customer service skills for internal and external customers.\ Demonstrated ability to train and mentor staff.\ Ability to work in an environment that has a high volume of events and often under stressful situations.\ Must be able to multitask and effectively prioritize multiple tasks, requests and situations.\ Must be dependable, flexible and willing to work additional hours during peak periods including weekends and holidays.\ Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:\ Experience managing service contracts.\ Experience managing construction projects.\ Experience managing NCAA Division I facility and event operations.\ Ability to identify problems and develop solutions such as reallocation of resources or changing project scope.\ Knowledge of environmental and safety rules, regulations and policies, and conducting job site inspections.\ National Incident Management System (NIMS) experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:\ Oversees the development of the facilities budget, manages related cost controls and reconciles accounts on a monthly basis; responsible for all budgets associated with facilities projects.\ Administers event management, which includes oversight of event personnel, security, credentialing, officials, etc.\ Evaluates and executes the department's capital program by planning and prioritizing capital projects, project programming to meet stakeholder needs, development and management of project budgets and implementation of schedules.\ Resolves athletic facility and construction related conflicts in conjunction with the Senior Associate AD/Internal Operations.\ Coordinator for all athletic facilities and related projects, which includes coordination with CMU Facilities Management (including procurement, implementation strategies and operations) and serves as a liaison to Facilities Management for all renovation, refurbishment and maintenance.\ Develops specifications for procurements on maintenance projects, service contracts and procurement of materials and supplies in accordance with university guidelines.\ Interfaces with contractors, service companies and suppliers in coordination with appropriate campus partners in the administration of contracts, purchase agreements and performance.\ Coordinates and analyzes a variety of feasibility studies for the department in order to meet department objectives for long-term needs.\ Prepares project status reports based on project management team accounts and feedback for the executive staff; visits project job sites and reviews contractor job progress.\ Ensures a comprehensive maintenance program is in place for all facilities and equipment.\ Serves on the campus Emergency Operations Team; manages the Emergency Action Plan and Operations Manual for all athletic events and athletic venues.\ Establishes and oversees health and safety standards as they r
