Overhead Door Corporation ASDH: Tool And Die Technician 1, Indirect - Facility in Mount Hope, Ohio

Essential Duties:

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions; and specifies requirements for materials and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, determines assembly & sequence of operations.
  • Examines and troubleshoots new or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, analyzes problem and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of the part.
  • Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of the product.
  • Maintain, repair, and improve dies and tooling.
  • Make adjustments to equipment in the production process to ensure part quality and promote continuous improvement.
  • Assists in the maintenance, repairing, and improvement of dies and tooling.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or equivalent experience.
  • Possess Journeyman's card/certification (or related experience) and a minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing or related fields in tool & die making.
  • Possess a proficient understanding of all aspects of tool and die and stamping.
  • Ability to produce precision tools, dies, jigs and fixtures from blueprints or sketches.
  • Must be proficient in the use of machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) and precision measuring equipment.
  • Experience in grinding a variety of common metals, both hard and soft.
  • Must be able to read and understand a blueprint.
  • Able to diagnose, interpret & assess problems in tooling and mfg processes.
  • Must be able to operate all machine shop related equipment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percent and to interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry and geometry.
