SGL Carbon Fibers America LLC Production Shift Manager in Moses Lake, Washington

SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENTS

Responsible for the supervision, evaluation and safety of team members in one or more manufacturing buildings to meet company objectives for safety, quality, productivity and costs.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Supervises all assigned operations on the shift according to established manufacturing specifications within production schedules cooperating with other departments to assure proper product flow.
  • Directs and assigns operators to tasks and assignments to meet shift objectives.
  • Keeps proper authorities notified of issues concerning production, schedules, quality or scrap problems.
  • Safeguards all company property and sees that all tools and equipment are in good operating condition and maintains work areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner.  Supports and participates in the 6S process.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Manages HR functions with assigned operators to include performance appraisal and time accounting.
  • Trains operators by initiating training plan, implementing plan, tracking progress, testing and follow-up.
  • Gathers, computes, records and compiles data for production, cost, quality, maintenance, near miss or accident reports.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or work crew.  In addition reviews and suggests changes to operating procedures.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. 
  • Utilizes training and education to manage and coordinate all the activities within the assigned department.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat, minimal concentration of chemicals and HCN below DOSH standards, frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is below OSHA required PPE levels but considered loud in some areas.
