BASIC FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Staff Analyst – Maintenance & Tool Room, KPS, the Controls Engineer role is to provide the technical and analytical assistance of predictive and preventative maintenance for the Power Systems group. Which includes, electrical, controls, automation, hydraulic proportional and servo controls and support.

This position is on 1st shift salaried at 40-45 hours during the week and may require time before/after shift and weekend work to support as needed. It may also require some travel between three local Kohler Power Plants (Mosel, Kohler, and Saukville) as needed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide Operations Engineering and Process Engineers with Maintenance support.

  • Work with Kohler Electricians, Electro-Mechs, and external support to use and maintain Allen-Bradley PLC controls for various equipment functions.

  • Provide programming, robotic, and technical support for future SMART Factory Initiatives.

  • Fluent Red Lion Software such as Crimson 2.0 and 3.0

  • Fluent in Allen Bradley and Rockwell Software such as BootP-DHCP, RSLinx, Connected Components Workbench, RSLogix, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk View Studio

  • Assist in Fanuc and/or ABB robotic software and controls and future robotic initiatives.

  • Assist in the establishment of new preventive maintenance procedures for specific equipment and audit the effectiveness of existing preventative maintenance procedures.

  • Assist in the establishment of recommended spare parts and specific quantities for items to be stocked in Maintenance Stores from the vendors recommendations or equipment literature.

  • Train maintenance personnel on the use of the predictive technologies when personnel changes require a new person be trained.Perform follow-up training for individuals who have attended an outside training course.

  • Provide other technical assistance as required to assist maintenance efforts and all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS

Supervisory Relationships:

  • Reports to the Staff Analyst – Maintenance and Toolroom, KPS.

  • Provides leadership role for team assignments as requested.

Organization Relationships:

  • Daily contact with Manager, Power System Maintenance Supervisors, and planner.

  • Frequent contact with Production Supervision, Area Process Engineers, Maintenance Skilled Trades, and production associates.

  • Frequent contact with Maintenance Stores Personnel, Maintenance Staff Services, Maintenance Reliability Group and Technical Service Engineers.

  • Moderate contact with corporate EH&S

External Business Relationships :

  • Moderate contact with vendors and equipment representatives.

  • Moderate contact with contractors.

Skills/Requirements

Required Experience:

  • 4-year degree in technical field such as Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology.Equivalent practical training in primary field relating to expertise would be considered.

  • Allen Bradley/Rockwell Software for PLC/HMI

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic computer skills with the ability to understand and learn programs quickly is required.

Desired Experience:

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience.

  • AutoCad/ AutoCad Electrical

  • Technical experience, including but not limited to: fabrication, welding, facilities maintenance, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and ability to read blueprints.

The salary range for this position is $73,400 - $92,500. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
