BUNZL Business Systems Manager Supply Chain in Morton Grove, Illinois


The Business Systems Manager for Supply Chain combines warehouse management process expertise and technology knowledge of warehouse management systems to facilitate the translation of business needs into system solutions. This individual will play a critical role as a business partner in the Supply Chain organization to understand business imperatives, perform feasibility analysis and to translate the business needs into requirements and functional specifications. This role will bridge the Supply Chain with technical delivery providers, both internal and external, and be responsible for the success of projects, ensuring that the business requirements are adequately considered in the design and delivery of solutions.

  • Develop, implement, lead, and maintain a culture of continuous process improvement

  • Create and ensure safe workplace environments in accordance with all Bunzl policies; promote a culture of safety first and lead by example

  • Work with the business community to perform functional analysis for designing solutions, evaluating options that include, but are not limited to, new program development, configuration of existing systems, business process redesign, new package/system evaluation or a combination of these options. Understand enough about each option to evaluate multiple options and recommend the best course of action based on requirements coverage and effort required.

  • Make WMS configuration changes to support business processes.

  • Responsible for understanding business requirements and creating documentation as needed, e.g., functional requirements documents, process flows, business cases, gap analysis (as is vs. to be) documents.

  • Document, socialize and gain alignment with cross functional teams on key decisions that impact process and business operations

  • Coordinate and perform system testing to ensure requirements are met. Work closely with the project team during user acceptance testing (UAT), including tracking issues through to resolution and securing end user acceptance sign-off.

  • Create and deliver user documentation as necessary to ensure proper use of changed and newly implemented solutions. Determine proper delivery method for this communication, e.g., one-on-one or classroom training, distribution of soft copy document, depend upon solution complexity and desire of the audience.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, business or another related area required

  • 5+ years' field experience in logistics operations

  • 3+ years' project management experience

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment

  • Candidate should have experience leading WMS implementations

  • Effective communicator and ability to manage through influence

  • PMP certifications a plus

  • APICS/ASCM certifications a plus

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of end-to-end supply chain functional processes with strong business acumen in Distribution and Warehouse Management Systems

  • Supply Chain systems (WMS, TMS, WCS etc) experience a plus. HighJump / Koerber preferred

  • Knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycle

  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, organization, prioritization, team building, conflict management and time management skills

  • Resourceful and proactive in gathering information and sharing ideas

  • Reliable, self-motivated, self-disciplined individual capable of executing on multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment working with cross functional teams

  • Attention to detail with the ability to analyze and solve complex problems as well as provide documentation, guidance, and instruction to users

  • Skilled in use of Microsoft suite of Office products, specifically MS Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project; Expert level preferred

  • Travel 50% of the time in support of leading change across the warehouse network
