Overview
The Staff Accountant 2 for Bank Reconciliations will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the bank accounts and financial records of the company. This position will be responsible for performing regular bank reconciliations, identifying discrepancies, and resolving issues promptly. The Staff Accountant will collaborate with various departments, including finance, treasury, and operations, to maintain a streamlined and error-free reconciliation process.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Advanced Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations for clinic bank accounts and main bank accounts. Ensure that all transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers, are accurately recorded and matched with corresponding records in the general ledger(GL)/Prx Mgmt Sys.
Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during the bank reconciliation process. Collaborate with internal departments and the banking institutions to clarify and correct any discrepancies promptly.
Journal Entries: Prepare necessary journal entries to adjust the general ledger for outstanding items identified during the bank reconciliation process. Ensure all adjustments are recorded accurately and in compliance with accounting standards.
Internal Controls: Support the implementation and maintenance of strong internal controls related to bank reconciliations. Identify opportunities for process improvements and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive and well-organized documentation for all bank reconciliation activities. Ensure that all supporting documents and evidence are appropriately filed for audit purposes.
Compliance: Stay up-to-date with accounting regulations and standards related to bank reconciliations. Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting principles and regulations.
Training and Support: Provide guidance and support to junior staff accountants and accounting associates involved in bank reconciliations.
Support the external audit process by furnishing pertinent information and backup documentation to auditors.
Respond to accounting inquiries by conducting thorough research and interpreting relevant data.
Safeguard the organization's value by ensuring strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
Contribute to the accomplishment of the accounting and organizational goals by efficiently completing related tasks as required.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred (business, accounting or finance related)
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on bank reconciliations.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and bank reconciliation process
Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft products
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with various stakeholders.
Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance related to banking and financial transactions is a plus.
