Job Description Summary

Join the team that collaborates across Travelers to inform business decisions, drive winning strategies and enable the business to capitalize on change. Travelers Enterprise Market Research team (EMR) is looking for a new member for our Emerging Insights Portfolio.(EMR) provides business and functional area partners with objective, credible and actionable insights; helping to profitably grow the business, build the brand and positively position Travelers within the marketplace.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with a wide range of primary and secondary research methodologies, be comfortable creating custom research approaches and new frameworks to answer difficult questions, and be able to drive progress on long-term initiatives while managing short-term business needs. You will be working in a dynamic environment to help understand emerging consumer, business and technology trends and their impact to the future of the insurance industry and marketplace.

You will be responsible for conducting research and serving as a research SME. You will help inspire a vision of the future and create tools and resources which enable key business partners to act upon the knowledge and insight generated by research efforts to make informed business decisions, deliver against critical business objectives and drive innovation.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Uses primary and secondary research to support business unit and enterprise-wide decision making.

  • Works on major projects, uncovers hard to find sources and verifies validity of other sources; performs market, industry, financial and economic analysis; formulates comprehensive answer for the client's business question.

  • Responsible for quality control of team's work as well as performance management and development.

  • Is well-versed in the execution of secondary research projects, from project scoping to project management and analysis.

  • Leverages colleagues, outside experts, and vendors to generate business relevant insights.

  • May serve as engagement lead for one or more businesses or corporate functions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of market research or related experience required.

Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics, engineering, mathematics, statistics or comparable analytical degree preferred.

  • 4+ years of related work experience preferred.

  • 2+ years of leadership experience (formally or informally) preferred.

  • Proficiency in primary research methodologies (qualitative or quantitative) desired.

  • Familiarity or experience with strategic foresight a plus.

Job Specific Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to analyze and summarize data and information from survey or qualitative data.

  • Ability to turn observations derived from data and analysis into actionable insights that connect well to business partner strategies and objectives.

  • Ability to manage research projects from the scoping phase through client delivery, managing to a budget on projects utilizing a vendor.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in research methods (quantitative and qualitative), qualitative research design, survey design, and a working knowledge of statistical and sampling methods and their appropriate applications.

  • Advanced PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills.
