Atlantic Health System EMPI Analyst in Morristown, New Jersey

Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Master Patient Index. Analyzes work queues to identify medical records to be merged within a facility, or linked across facilities, regions, and other EMRs. Analyzes, assesses, and performs chart corrections and identity investigations within the enterprise master patient index (EMPI) ensuring one record per patient is preserved and ensuring the integrity of each record is maintained.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Maintains integrity of the enterprise-wide Master Patient Index to ensure patient health information resides under a unique EMPI number.

  2. Performs analytical reviews of clinical and demographic information and verifies assignment of duplicate numbers to the same person to ensure patient safety.

  3. Maintains all assigned HIM Data Integrity Services work queues and reports.

  4. Communicates and collaborates with internal and external customers to resolve complex chart issues.

  5. Assists in identification and communication for areas of non-compliance with established policies and procedures to decrease the creation of duplicate medical records, overlays and other data integrity issues.

  6. Demonstrates advanced critical thinking, reasoning, problem solving, and decision-making abilities.

  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Relevant Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors or Associate degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, or related field. Or Bachelor or Associate degree with two years of related experience or an equivalent of work history, education and relevant experience.

  2. Epic experience preferred

  3. RHIA/RHIT preferred
