The Operations Supervisor is a key supervisory position that ensures every order’s details are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner through leadership, training, and effective communication within the incumbent’s team. This position is responsible for performing and overseeing the operation and maintenance of facility including managing employees, implementing daily job tasks, and meeting production goals in a safe and compliant manner. The incumbent is guided by policies and assignments received from the Facility Manager and Plant Production Supervisors

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Maintain operational documentation to include reports, procedures, order requirements, etc.

  • Supervise and communicate with other sites and corporate teams to coordinate work.

  • Supervise scheduled pickups and deliveries.

  • Primary responsibility for creating and maintaining operational reports, customer reports, throughput reports, productivity reports, etc.

  • Follow outbound shipments of material to ensure receipt by destination.

  • Support compliance with all federal, state and local permit requirements.

  • Communicate to management facility needs, difficulties and changes in operations.

  • Think outside the box and affect positive change and continuous improvement.

  • Perform related work and additional duties as requested/assigned by supervisor

  • Supervise segregation and packaging material for transport along with the completion of required paperwork in a legible, accurate, and timely manner in accordance with appropriate regulations and Customer/Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Oversee large projects/jobs with ability to manage a team of technicians. Schedule and distribute work to team. Instructs, provides feedback, directs and assists team in performance of job duties to complete work in accordance with requirements and Clean Earth policies, practices and procedures.

  • Trains technicians and operators on-the-job in equipment operation, service line processes and necessary paperwork. Provide training and coaching to team members as needed.

  • Follow all Health & Safety/Job Safety Analysis (JSA's) procedures as outlined in Clean Earth procedures and policies.

  • Supervise and operate fork trucks and other heavy equipment when properly trained to move materials for storage / loading and off-loading.

  • Assist in other areas of the location as directed including but not limited to occasional travel to customer sites; assistance with production scheduling; and support of staff training.

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 2 or more years of prior experience working with hazardous materials.

  • Ability to operate equipment, including a forklift and pallet jack

  • Ability to wear company provided personal protection equipment including eye protection, steel toed shoes, hard hat, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or an Environmental Sciences field Two or more years of experience sampling and receiving hazardous waste Knowledge of OSHA Regulations

  • Proficiency with Windows based programs (i.e. Excel and Word)
