Morehead State University Department Chair, Engineering Sciences in Morehead, Kentucky
The Department of Engineering Sciences at Morehead State University invites applications for a full-time position as a Department Chair. The anticipated start date is no later than July 1, 2025.Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. Morehead State University delivers a strong and affordable education for friendly, ambitious students who thrive in a student-focused learning environment defined by small class sizes and faculty committed to teaching and student success.RESPONSIBILITIES: The chair is directly responsible for the administration of programs in their academic department in concert with the departmental faculty and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Sciences. The role of the department chair at Morehead State University includes being first in the administrative chain of command between the faculty and Dean regarding the duties and responsibilities listed and defined below.REQUIREMENTS: Doctoral degree from an accredited university with a specialty in Engineering, Physics, computer science, Engineering Technology, Technology Management or a closely related field. A distinguished record of scholarship and teaching that merits appointment as a tenured full professor. Administrative experience in an academic unit. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with both internal constituents as well as external partners. Experience teaching and evaluating a variety of instructional delivery models including face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online. Demonstrated commitment to educational and cultural needs of diverse and low-income populations, and experience with externally funded projects.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated commitment to and success in a shared governance model. Success with interdisciplinary research, teaching and outreach activities. Success in program evaluation, revision, development, and implementation. Experience in an accreditation process such as ABET or ATMAE. Success as a principal investigator or co-investigator on a federally funded project. Experience working with students including advising, teaching, and mentoring.SPONSORSHIP: This position is not budgeted for Visa Sponsorship.
