The Office of Dean, Volgenau College of Education at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Dean, Volgenau College of Education. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025.Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities. Morehead State University delivers a strong and affordable education for friendly, ambitious students who thrive in a student-focused learning environment defined by small class sizes and faculty committed to teaching and student success.RESPONSIBILITIES: The Dean is responsible for administering and providing direct and effective leadership in undergraduate and graduate program development, evaluation, staffing, budgeting and resource management to faculty and staff in the departments of Teacher Education and Foundational and Graduate Studies in Education; projects and auxiliary services including the Educational Services Unit, and the Education Unit for Child Care Services. Departmental chairs and select coordinators and directors report directly to the Dean.REQUIREMENTS: Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university in a field of study that is represented within the academic college. Three years of successful academic experience in higher education at the level of Department Chair or higher. Three years of significant leadership experience in upper administration within a K-12 school district may substitute for three or more years as a Department Chair. Faculty rank commensurate with professional credentials. Understanding of shared governance, personnel leadership, curricular and budgetary matters. Effective leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education accreditation experience and/or experience in a K-12 setting.SPONSORSHIP: This position is not budgeted for Visa Sponsorship.
