Eaton Corporation Director, IT - Product Engineering R&D Leader in Moon Township, Pennsylvania

Eaton’s Corporate IT organization is hiring a Director, IT Product Engineering R&D to be based in either Beachwood, Ohio or Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Relocation will be provided with this role.

What you’ll do:

The engineering function is transforming itself to enhance throughput, quality, and innovation, with IT playing a critical role in this transformation. The IT Engineering Leader will work closely with the engineering leadership team to support functional excellence and digitization efforts. This role involves being a proactive business partner, focusing on engineering needs, and acting as a catalyst for change to improve performance and achieve agreed-upon outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the engineering leadership team to support functional excellence and digitization efforts.

  • Act as a proactive business partner, focusing on engineering needs and driving change across the engineering domain to improve performance and achieve outcomes.

  • Own IT product management, end-to-end governance, and oversight of various capabilities and business initiatives across the product and software engineering domain, specifically to drive "lean" in engineering.

  • Drive and monitor the adoption of program, project, and product outcome-based deliveries per enterprise standards, and improve domain performance metrics through strong networks and engagement with cross-functional teams.

  • Pivot to an IT product and business outcome-based delivery model to support the engineering team's functional excellence and digitization efforts.

  • Ensure the incremental delivery of efficient technology solutions that are strategic while supporting tactical objectives.

  • Develop and maintain end-to-end roadmaps for digital capabilities, ensuring that delivery conforms to standard processes (Waterfall, Agile, etc.).

  • Create and maintain the vision and strategy for engineering IT in alignment with the global engineering strategy.

  • Build networks and relationships with executives, leaders, and teams at all levels within the business, technology function, and external partners to ensure engagement, sponsorship, and alignment of business and technology strategies and leading practices.

  • Identify and drive process excellence by working across sectors and business functions to implement and improve engineering and software development processes using industry best practices.

  • Orchestrate business benefits realization in partnership with business leaders, process owners, and product teams, proactively monitoring and sharing business process performance and mitigating risks to meet commitments.

  • Leverage an agile delivery model to track, manage, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of internal processes (architecture, DevSecOps, Agile, Lean, Design Thinking) and ensure a successful pivot to an outcome-based delivery model while driving adoption and product management process maturity.

  • Provide end-to-end visibility for all initiatives within engineering, collaborating with architects and product owners to document, publish, and maintain business capability and technology artifacts to ensure decision quality.

  • Build, lead, and direct a team of IT Product Managers and specialists to ensure the quality delivery of digital solutions within the product engineering community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; master’s degree preferred. Business administration, computer science, or related field.

  • Minimum 15 years of IT experience and at least 10 years of experience working specifically within the engineering domain and with engineering technologies.

Skills:

Technical knowledge

  • End-to-end business process knowledge, across multiple domains including Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Human Resources, Legal, Quality, Lean/Six Sigma, product management with a product-centric mindset, engineering and other functional platforms (Design automation, PLM systems, CAD Systems, etc), Agile & hybrid project management methodologies, Design-Thinking, and contemporary collaboration tools.

Soft skills

  • Strategy and management partnership experience desirable. Executive presence and communication skills, relationship building and influence, organizational change management skills, people development and ability to drive high employee engagement. Self-motivated, self-directed, problem solver who can assess and develop strategies for anticipating and achieving customer needs. Ability to motivate and mobilize teams, to operate with speed and flexibility, navigate the turns, and display a global perspective with cultural awareness.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $172500.03 - $253000.04 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
