Montrose Memorial Hospital MRI Tech - Full Time - Nights in Montrose, Colorado

Position Overview:

Performs MRI examinations under the direction of the Radiologist. Exams are performed with the highest technical quality and efficiency while providing compassionate care and ensuring patient safety. Generates paperwork including verifying physician orders, requisitions, and appropriate exam charges.

Essential Functions :

· Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of MRI scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients for MRI scans using patient positioning devices and protective equipment as necessary.

· Follow all MRI safety procedures and complete safety forms.

· Perform exams accurately per established protocols, policy, and patient safety standards.

· Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable.

· Assist radiologist with interventional MRI procedures.

· Evaluate MRI scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to Image Archival System.

· Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.

· Charge procedures and supplies in EHR.

· Dispense oral or rectal contrast to patients for MRI scans.

· Maintain accurate patient records.

· Provide orientation and training to new MRI technologists.

· Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families for MRI scans.

· Provide education and training to student technologists.

· Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.

· Coordinate scheduling and patient flow

· Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration.

· Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in performance of all exam protocols.

· Assist with the education and training of new physicians (interns, residents, fellows, and attending's). If applicable.

· Assist radiologists in developing new protocols and MRI imaging techniques that are unique to facility.

· Monitor all unread studies without notes.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods. Fine motor skills. Visual acuity.

Qualifications & Skills:

a) Education: ARRT registered in compliance with continuing education requirements. BLS certified.

b) Training & Experience: Prefer one year experience but not mandatory.

c) Job Knowledge: Knowledgeable in cross sectional anatomy to perform in MRI. Familiar with laser imaging. Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
