Senior Community Care of Colorado PACE is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization.
Pay: $17.00 - $22.48 per hour, based on experience and with the option of pay in lieu of benefits!
Schedule: Fulltime Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm and will work out of both Montrose and Eckert locations!

- Ministry Program The Activities Assistant is responsible for assisting with the implementation of activities for participants tailored to the needs and limitations of the elderly. Assists participants with non-skilled Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Provides one-on-one assistance with participants or preparing for upcoming activities. Assist with planning social, therapeutic and leisure programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent education is preferred. Preference given to candidates holding a C.N.A.
- Must have one year's experience working with the elderly population. One year's experience of providing activities programming to elderly population preferred.
- Knowledge of the principles' practices standards and techniques of the provision of recreational activities.
- Knowledge of how to use and maintain materials and equipment of need to provide recreational activities.
- Knowledge of safety requirements when providing and implementing recreational.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, medical staff and the public.
- Able to identify and recommend problem resolution.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Leads and/or assists in large groups, small groups 1:1's and individual activities (exercise, arts and crafts, games, current events, sensory, etc.).
- Assists Activities Director/Recreation Therapist in assessing and reassessing participants' functional status in relationship to participation in recreational activities.
- Assists with the development and implementation of recreational activities that meet the interests, needs and capabilities of participants under the supervision of Activities Director or Recreation Therapist.
- Completes assigned activity charting and reporting as assigned by Activities Director or Recreation Therapist.
- Assists in the organizing of special events, outings as assigned.
- Assists with preparing and cleaning up after activities.
- Attends any meetings regarding participant care as assigned by Activities Director or Recreation Therapist.
- Assists Day Center staff as directed by Activities Director or Recreation Therapist, such as lunch service and arrival of participants as appropriate.
- Assists in the ordering of supplies for department as requested and maintains equipment in good condition.
- Acts within the scope of his or her authority to practice.
- Follows all Senior CommUnity Care program Policies and Procedures and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about participants, clients or families.
- Handles potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard
precautions and practices Universal precautions.
- Maintains safe working environment. Follows Senior CommUnity Care Program Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings.
- Maintains general order in the activities area, including daily clean-up, routine supply inventory ordering, petty cash and overall general budgeting.
- Works cooperatively with other staff and departments to meet Senior CommUnity Care participants' needs.
- Assists participants with non-skilled Activities of Daily Living (ADL) as needed.
- Protects privacy and maintains confidentiality of all company procedures, results and information about employees, participants and families.
- Participates in and supports Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Performs related duties as required.
