The Catalytic Converter Buyer follows direction set by the Managing Senior Account Executive. The Catalytic Converter Buyer is responsible for purchasing catalytic converters. This position will be a self-starter who can adapt to a variety of tasks and take responsibility with minor influence from the Managing Senior Account Executive. Travel to businesses to gain and maintain strong relationships with converter customer base. Grade catalytic converters per CW Metals/Crow Wing Recycling grade expectations. Grade and purchase any other non-ferrous that might come with catalytic converters. Track and analyze metal market trends to make informative purchasing decisions. Price converters using company provided grade, price sheet and supporting vendor app. Use judgment to move units in and out of grades to maintain overall profit but make customer happy. Ensure compliance with all legal and environmental regulations related to catalytic converter purchasing. Reconcile paperwork and pay customers onsite. Handle checks and/or cash. Maintain accurate records of spending and purchases including quantities, grades, and supplier information. Share information with other company buyers about possible leads on other material in yard. Work directly with customers and other yard employees. Maintain and add stops to current routes. Create and build new routes. Manage time to get as many stops as possible in a route. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
