The Role

A Senior Lead Cloud Engineer serves as a technical leader and mentor responsible for establishing cloud engineering standards, best practices, and automation frameworks across multiple teams while driving the adoption of Infrastructure as Code and DevOps methodologies. This role requires deep expertise in multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and the ability to architect complex cloud solutions, implement security controls, and optimize costs through FinOps practices, while also mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance to project teams. The position demands excellent communication skills to influence technical decisions, lead architecture reviews, and collaborate with stakeholders to align cloud initiatives with business objectives, along with hands-on experience in cloud-native technologies, containerization, and modern CI/CD practices.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design and implementation of cloud solutions across multiple projects

  • Drive architectural decisions and best practices within project scope

  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for cloud implementations

  • Lead cloud migration initiatives and modernization efforts

  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, and reliability

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions

  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues

  • Lead technical planning and estimation sessions

  • Mentor junior engineers and leads

  • Drive technical excellence across multiple teams

  • Define and implement cloud governance frameworks

  • Lead cloud architecture reviews and technical decisions

  • Drive standardization of cloud practices

  • Influence cloud strategy and adoption roadmap

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Skills:

  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP core services

  • Expert-level knowledge in at least two of the following: Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM Templates, or Bicep

  • Strong experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Advanced knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Ansible)

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, Java)

  • Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)

  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks

  • Deep architectural knowledge of cloud-native patterns

  • Expert-level knowledge in cloud security and compliance

  • Advanced experience with cloud cost optimization

  • Expertise in cloud automation and Infrastructure as Code

  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture patterns

  • Experience with cloud networking and hybrid connectivity

  • Knowledge of multiple public cloud providers' well-architected frameworks

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent education and 10+ years enterprise experience as a DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or Cloud Automation Engineer, with demonstrated expertise in system architecture, operations, and application administration & architecture.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.

$136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.

$142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
