Job descriptions: SDAC is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Construction Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all financial records related to our construction projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including handling vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, and customer receipts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger records for all construction projects, including tracking project costs, materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
- Prepare and reconcile bank statements for project accounts.
- Assist with the month-end closing process, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and accurate.
- Generate reports for project managers and executives, including job cost reports, variance reports, and aging reports.
- Track and monitor project budgets, identifying potential cost overruns and alerting management.
- Assist with the preparation of payroll for
- construction workers.
- Liaise with subcontractors and vendors regarding invoices and payments.
- May assist with tax preparation or interact with tax professionals (depending on company size).
- Maintain a filing system for all financial documents related to construction projects.
- Perform other accounting tasks as assigned.
- Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field (preferred), or minimum 2 years of experience in a construction bookkeeping role.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures.
- Proficient in construction accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Construction, Sage Estimating) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of construction terminology and processes (a plus)
