BUNZL Sales Manager, Destiny Packaging in Monterey, California

Description

Destiny Packaging, a rapidly expanding company within the Bunzl Agriculture Group, is seeking an experienced Sales Manager with a proven track record in the flexible packaging industry. This multi-functional role offers significant growth potential and the opportunity to build upon the success of our Destiny operation. The primary focus will be on creating, developing, and driving flexible packaging ales within the following target markets: Produce industry, Frozen Food industry, and Bread and Bakery industry.

Destiny's salary range is $100k-$125k plus bonus based on experience, education and geographic location

In this role, you will lead efforts to identify new business opportunities and implement effective sales strategies to maximize revenue. Building and maintaining strong customer relationships will be crucial, as well as addressing and resolving complaints and inquiries promptly and effectively. You will also be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing a high-performing sales team, providing guidance and support to ensure team members achieve their sales targets and contribute to overall company goals. Collaboration with other team members and departments will be essential to drive customer results and ensure seamless operations.

Additionally, you will develop and implement strategies tailored to the unique needs of the target markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support a team of five highly technical and experienced in the flexible packaging industry sales professionals.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations to ensure team effectiveness.

  • Accompany sales representatives on customer visits to help finalize business opportunities.

  • Strategically promote new products within the existing and new customer base to drive sales and increase market share.

  • Collaborate with the sales team to establish and expand new accounts.

  • Develop and implement strategies to sell value-added products such as custom print packaging, SUP Packaging, high-end flexible packaging, and clamshells into new and existing accounts.

  • Work closely with operations to ensure inventory levels align with sales projections and vendor capacities.

  • Conduct quarterly evaluations of pricing to adjust VMI accounts.

  • Drive topline and bottom-line growth within the assigned territory.

  • Set and achieve goals for territory expansion, including the potential addition of new sales personnel.

  • Actively participate in industry association functions such as Trade Shows to network, gather market insights, and represent the company.

  • Ensure alignment of marketing strategies with sales objectives.

  • Assist in the development of new designs and projects to meet customer needs and market trends.

  • Collaborate with our vendors to explore new materials and innovative packaging solutions, particularly for produce packaging and sustainability.

  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers to ensure satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Address and resolve customer complaints and inquiries effectively.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve company sales targets.

  • Monitor and analyze sales performance to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of sales managerial experience in the flexible packaging industry.

  • Ability to develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve company sales targets.

  • In-depth understanding of the flexible packaging industry, including market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs.

  • Experience in promoting new products within the existing customer base and identifying new business opportunities.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in professional Selling, Marketing, Business, or a related field.

  • Extensive knowledge of Vertical Form and Fill Film and equipment, Flexo Printing, Converting, and Lamination processes is preferred.

  • Proven successful track record of building and managing a professional sales team.

  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Exceptional analytical skills to assess market trends, sales performance, and pricing strategies.

  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Ability to present and communicate effectively with customers, team members, and senior management.

  • Ability to develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve company sales targets.

  • Experience in promoting new products within the existing customer base and identifying new business opportunities.
