Wage Range: $30.79- $49.50 per hour. The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation, such as shift differentials and premiums may be available for this role. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, applicable education and internal equity.

    JOB SUMMARY of ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Adheres to the Hospital’s Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care and consistently exhibits professional conduct that is an expression of the hospital’s Standards of Excellence. Provides family counseling and treatment to patients and their families who have been affected by substance use disorder under the direction of the Program Manager which is in compliance with and according to hospital-wide and department-specific policies and procedures and standards of care. May also act as an SUDP in performing assessments or as a counselor. Participates in Quality Improvement activities. Supports the Recovery Center’s operations. Assumes responsibility for using effective interpersonal and organizational skills.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

    Bachelor's degree in health-related field preferred or equivalent training and experience in the treatment of substance use disorder. Meets WAC 246-811 requirements of a Substance Use Disorder Professional and is certified with the Department of Health as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) or Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT). Recovering substance abusers must have active involvement in a 12-Step Program and a minimum of two years of continuous abstinence. Master’s degree in counseling or related behavioral health field or equivalent training and experience in the treatment of substance use disorder preferred. Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and a valid driver’s license.

    SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    Demonstrated excellent clinical skills and knowledge of patient care techniques and procedures in the assessment, treatment, and care of patients in a variety of age groups, including adolescents, adults, and/or geriatric. Knowledge of American Society Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria, WAC regulations as they pertain to clinical services and counseling treatment. Knowledge of 12-Step Recovery Programs. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with patients and families and demonstrated public speaking skills. Ability to perform the physical requirements and essential functions of the job. Have a working knowledge of chemical dependency, family systems, family disease, and the recovery process.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

    Adheres to all State and Federal regulations pertaining to hazardous materials and BBP. Occasionally subject to physical/verbal abuse from patients.

    WORK CONTACT GROUP: Patients/families, hospital staff, physicians, and health care providers.

    SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Exposed to multiple priorities and high client stress regularly. May be subject to irregular hours, including weekend work assignments. Hearing, listening and observation skills constantly used. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Requires judgment/action, which could affect patient health and safety.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assumes responsibility for an assigned caseload of patients in a va­riety of age groups, including adult and/or geriatric; interviews, evaluates and develops treatment plans for patients’ sub­ject to the approval of Manager of Behavioral Health Services.

  • Conducts individual and group counseling, and family/employer orien­tation counseling sessions; presents to patients, their families, friends and employers information on treatment concepts, objectives and goals.

  • Functions as an active team member in reviewing patients' responses to the treatment program and recommending modifications to the treat­ment plans.

  • Observes patients' response to treatment, records progress notes in chart, and recommends revision of treatment plans and methods where need­ed; makes referrals to other treatment programs, community mental health centers and inpatient extended care facilities.

  • Preforms pre-authorization and ongoing utilization reviews with insurance companies.

  • Assists in maintaining a close collaborative working relationship with referral sources.

  • Conducts legal assessments, intake evaluations, and interventions as requested by management and the public.

  • Monitors client compliance with Department of Licensing and probation department and provides relapse information to patients, as designat­ed within the program schedule.

  • Conducts presentations inside and outside the facility, as directed by management.

  • Participates in all staff meetings and mandatory in-services and trai­ning programs to ensure continued understanding of all department policies, procedures and CQI programs and processes.

  • Will provide transport to patients of the Recovery Center as needed using the EvergreenHealth Monroe provided vehicle.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth Monroe and United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Local 3000.
