Responsibilities

Position Summary

The purpose of the Palletizer Machine Operator is to monitor the robotic palletizing machines while following all departmental and safety policies and procedures

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to safety policies such as LOTO, PPE, PIT and Housekeeping

  • Operate the robotic palletizing machines ensuring cases are properly stacked according to product work orders and JDE

  • Manage, monitor and enact fault recovery processes for the Palletizer

  • Ensure all full pallets are indexed and wrapped with plastic

  • Enter data into sorter HMI

  • Maintain frequent communication with leads and/or supervisor

  • Keep necessary supplies on hand for the job

  • Perform preventive maintenance on the equipment as needed

  • Determine if boxes and labels meet proper specifications and take corrective action or notify the correct parties, as needed

  • Stack cases of product manually as needed

  • Assist at receiving pallets and place in stock

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. continuously when hand stacking cases of finished product

  • Know and understand automated sequences of the Palletizer System

  • Able to perform operational fault recovery tasks

  • Complete daily inspection checklist for PM

  • Be able to balance the load of the robots based on past performance knowledge of a fluid production environment

  • Know when a job is beyond the operator’s scope and notify maintenance group

  • Continuous Improvement and Education with regards to our specific system and the equipment with in it

  • If you have an idea that would improve the system efficiency, say something

  • Assist in receiving pallets and place stock in location

  • Ability to work independently and with a team

  • Ability to operate the bailer and grinder

  • Ability to complete paperwork/documents/checklists required of this position

  • Maintain good housekeeping in warehouse and working area as needed

  • Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained in order to maintain SQF certification

  • Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety

  • Perform other warehouse or production duties as assigned

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

  • Knowledge and skills to operate forklift trucks safely

  • Ability to take direction and work well with others

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Good English writing, reading & speaking skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

  • Basic use of hand tools

  • Basic math skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively

  • Basic computer systems knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of inventory systems

  • Attention to detail

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk sit and communicate for 12 hours per day

  • Ability to see and hear

  • Occasionally required to stretch, bend, climb, balance, stoop or kneel, push, pull, twist, turn

  • Required to lift 50 pounds over head to total height of six feet multiple times in a 12-hour shift

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or airborne particles

  • The employee is occasionally exposed to cold, heat and/or humid conditions

  • Manual Dexterity; required to quickly move hand, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects

  • Wrist-Finger Speed ; required to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists

  • Multilimbed Coordination ; required to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts

  • At a minimum, the environment requires the use of Personal Protective

  • Equipment such as: safety glasses, ear plugs, bump caps and steel toed shoes

  • Additional PPE maybe needed for various tasks

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud

Position Hours

  • Assigned 12-hour schedule

  • Schedule rotates as follows: two days on, two days off, three days on, two days off, etc.

  • Flexibility for occasional overtime and call-in work required

Organization Relationships

  • Report directly to Group Lead and Warehouse Supervisor for purposes of scheduling, performance evaluation, and compensation assessment, product requirements, quality requirements, and overall departmental goals

Safety Expectations

  • Be a Role Model – No exceptions from safety absolutes and plant rules; What you say and do impacts everyone on your shift positively and negatively

  • If you feel a task that you have been asked to complete is unsafe, stop and request additional information

  • Take immediate action to address a safety hazard

  • Visible participation in pre-shift meetings reiterating safety

  • Daily review housekeeping with focus on your areas; don’t settle

  • Conduct conversations with team members on safety

  • Respond to employee concerns with the respect that it deserves

  • Participate in EHS Framework scoring and improvement plans

  • Enter in near misses and observation in EHS Systems
