Job Title: Monroe City Pool Manager (2025 Pool Season)

Job Overview:
Monroe City is seeking a responsible, organized, and energetic individual to serve as the Pool Manager for the 2025 Pool Season. The Pool Manager will oversee the daily operations of the city pool, manage a team of lifeguards, and ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for both staff and guests. This role requires leadership, customer service skills, and the ability to train and maintain a high standard of safety. The Pool Manager will also be responsible for sales, inventory management, and ensuring that the pool is properly staffed at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Lifeguard Training and Certification:
Participate in the Lifeguard Certification program and ensure all lifeguards are properly trained and certified for the season. Provide continuing education and documentation for all ongoing training to lifeguards to reinforce safety protocols, first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures.
Staff Supervision and Management:
Manage and supervise a team of lifeguards and other pool staff, including scheduling, daily operations, and performance management. Ensure staff are adhering to safety protocols, customer service standards, and maintaining professionalism at all times.
Safety and Guest Experience:
Ensure the safety of all pool guests and staff by monitoring and enforcing pool rules, responding to emergencies, and overseeing poolside safety including management of a pool severe weather policy. Maintain a clean and welcoming environment for guests. Respond to guest inquiries, concerns, or complaints in a friendly and professional manner.
Sales and Inventory Management:
Oversee snack stand operations, including managing snack inventory and sales. Ensure stock is maintained and that products are fresh and priced correctly. Manage pool pass sales, including seasonal and daily passes, and keep accurate records of all transactions.
Facility Management:
Ensure the pool area is clean, well-maintained, and fully operational. Coordinate any necessary maintenance or repairs with the appropriate city departments. Monitor pool water quality and ensure it meets safety standards. Report any facility, or staff issues to the city.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records for staff schedules, inventory, sales, training, and certifications. Prepare weekly or monthly reports on pool attendance, sales, and staffing levels for the city council.
Communication and Coordination:
Work closely with other city departments and pool staff to ensure smooth operations and efficient communication. Provide updates and report issues to the city administration as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining and monitoring pool chemical levels to ensure water quality and safety. This includes regularly testing and adjusting pH, chlorine, alkalinity, and other chemical levels, as well as recording and reporting findings to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in pool management or related field preferred.
- Must participate in and successfully complete the Lifeguard Certification course (or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with experience managing younger employees.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training is required or must be obtained before pool season begins.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in hot, outdoor conditions for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand, sit, and walk for long periods, and meet physical requirements for emergency care.
- Must be able to swim and demonstrate lifeguard skills.
Compensation:
The pay for this position is competitive and will be based on experience.
