Compliance with state and federal hiring standards is coordinated through WIU's Office of Equal Opportunity & Access. r rJob Description: r rAPPOINTMENT: The School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration is seeking to fill a nine-month tenure-track position. The position is offered on the Macomb, Illinois campus, with a starting date of January 2023 (preferred) or August 2023. r rRESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will be required to teach Law Enforcement and Justice Administration undergraduate or graduate courses as assigned, although teaching responsibilities for this position will concentrate on policing, criminal law, cyber investigations, corrections, homeland security, crime scene investigation, leadership, and administration, and diversity and ethics for criminal justice practitioners. Successful applicants could also be assigned to teach and develop courses that concern special topics, involving 21st Century policing and security, and report writing. Applicants should also demonstrate an understanding of the application of technology to enhance learning. Other duties may be assigned as required by the Director of LEJA. Unit A faculty must also engage in ongoing scholarship and service to the university to satisfy retention and promotion requirements (see http://www.wiu.edu/provost/upi\_agreement/ ). rThis position requires full attendance at all classes in a traditional face-to-face classroom format. While opportunities to develop and conduct hybrid or online courses exist for the successful applicant, this solicitation/position is not for online instruction or distance learning. r rRequirements: r rREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., J.D.) from the U.S. regionally accredited institution of higher learning (or equivalent from an international accrediting body); ABD considered; and a minimum of five years practical experience with a criminal justice agency (such as law enforcement, corrections, juvenile justice, or prosecutor's office) is required. r rPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of three years teaching criminal justice courses, or courses in a closely related field, at an institution of higher learning is preferred. r rAdditional Information: r rTHE SCHOOL: Within the School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration at WIU, one can receive a Bachelor of Science and/or a Master of Arts degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. A Police Executive Certificate is also available to post-graduate students and is designed to prepare future law enforcement executives and current executives for the future. A Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Science, Fire Medic and Emergency Management is also available.
