Candidates will primarily teach graduate sport management courses, provide academic advising to sport management graduate students, and other teaching responsibilities as assigned. The Sport Management Program is offered on both the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses. r rExpectations: r rEngage in scholarly activity rParticipate in curriculum development and assessment rServe on Department, College and University committees rParticipate in state, national, and/or international organizations that serve the field of Sport Management and other organizations of interest. rProvide service to the community and the profession r rRANK & SALARY: Assistant Professor. For full benefit information visit: http://www.wiu.edu/vpas/human\_resources/benefits/ r rRequirements: r rREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree in Sport Management or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of Higher Education by the time of appointment. Record of success or evidence of potential for success in graduate teaching, scholarship and service. r rPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Relevant practical experience in the sport industry, experience mentoring graduate students, and expertise in technology and/or demonstrated commitment to online courses. Demonstrated competence in teaching graduate courses in at least four areas (sport governance, financial issues, facility and event management, sport marketing, organizational theory in sport, public and media relations, and social & ethical issues in sport). Ability to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in diverse academic programs. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills which promote collegiality and collaboration. r rFor a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment. r rAdditional Information: r rTHE DEPARTMENT: The Kinesiology Department's 15 full time faculty members serve a growing department of about 300 undergraduate students majoring in four B.S. degree programs in Nutrition and Dietetics, Exercise Science, Nutrition and Foodservice Management, and Physical Education Teacher Education, and approximately 70 graduate students majoring in the M.S. degree programs in Kinesiology and Sport Management. The Department has an array of facilities that support teaching and research related to sport management, athletic training, biomechanics, human performance, and pedagogy.
