Western Illinois University, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, serves nearly 7,500 students at its traditional, residential four-year campus in Macomb, IL and its metropolitan, non-residential branch campus in Moline, IL. r rJob Description: r rAPPOINTMENT: September 2022 r rRESPONSIBILITIES: The assistant baseball coach position will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all facets of the baseball program. The Assistant Baseball Coach assists in providing leadership and supervision for the baseball team and works closely with the other staff and administration. This position will be the pitching coach OR hitting coach and have recruiting coordinator duties. Essential responsibilities include daily management of the pitching staff OR offense including implementing philosophies, routines, and daily practice planning. Functions of the recruiting coordinator are to work closely with the head coach to determine the versatility of current players and the needs of the program. Extensively recruit all needed positions for upcoming recruiting classes.. Communicate clearly with the head coach regarding in-state, regional, and national recruiting opportunities. Work with the other assistants to ensure adequate coverage of all necessary recruiting trips. This will be done at the direction of the head coach to ensure proper coverage at practice and scrimmages. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the head coach. r rRANK & SALARY: Negotiable, commensurate with experience. For full benefit information visit: http://www.wiu.edu/vpas/human\_resources/benefits/. r rRequirements: r rREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree; demonstrated experience coaching baseball at the collegiate level; proven record of player skill development; proven record of adherence to all NCAA compliance regulations; strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills; demonstrated record of successfully recruiting academically and athletics prepared student-athletes; must have a valid driver's license. r rPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree and demonstrated experience coaching baseball at the NCAA Division I level. r rFor a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body).
