Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
A CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and programming computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision metal or plastic parts. This role involves interpreting blueprints, creating machining programs, and ensuring quality control through inspections, all while maintaining the functionality and safety of the equipment. Essentially, CNC Machinists use computer-controlled machinery to create precise parts according to detailed specifications.
Responsibilities
Reading and interpreting blueprints: Studying engineering drawings and work orders to understand required dimensions, tolerances, and machining operations.
Machine setup: Properly mounting and securing raw materials on the CNC machine, selecting and setting up cutting tools, and setting reference points.
Programming: Writing and editing CNC programs using specialized software to define tool paths, speeds, feeds, and other machining parameters.
Operating CNC machines: Monitoring machine operation during machining processes, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality and accuracy.
Quality control: Performing in-process inspections using precision measuring tools like calipers and micrometers to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving machine malfunctions, including tool wear, material issues, and programming errors.
Maintaining equipment: Cleaning and lubricating CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and lifespan.
Material handling: Loading and unloading raw materials and finished parts.
Essential Skills
Technical knowledge: Understanding of machining principles, CNC programming languages, and basic geometry.
Attention to detail: Ability to precisely follow specifications and maintain tight tolerances.
Problem-solving skills: Identifying and troubleshooting machine issues effectively.
Mechanical aptitude: Familiarity with machine tools and their functions.
Computer literacy: Proficiency in CNC programming software.
Math skills: Ability to perform calculations related to measurements and machining parameters.

Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing facility, often in a machine shop setting. The work environment includes exposure to noise and may require standing for extended periods and lifting heavy materials. Our facility is climate-controlled and equipped with modern CNC machines, ensuring a comfortable and efficient workspace. You will be working alongside approximately 20 other team members.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mobile, Alabama.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
