The rate of pay for this position is $20.00 per hour.The Ecology and Extension Department is seeking a WATERCRAFT INSPECTION STATION TECHNICIAN to join their team. This position is responsible for set up, operation and support of Watercraft Inspection/Decontamination Stations for the Aquatic Invasive Species Management Program for the Missoula County Ecology and Extension Department. Representative Examples of WorkCategorizes watercraft coming through stations, inspects and assesses risk for each type of watercraft, determines which need to be decontaminated immediately on-site, and which can be directed elsewhere or held and decontaminated later. Performs decontaminations on various types of watercraft using hot water decontamination units, including removing drain plugs, draining and drying compartments and flushing boat motors. Provides information to the public on the importance of watercraft decontamination in controlling aquatic invasive species. Directs boaters to other decontamination stations. Tracks data and maintains records. Assists with the daily installation and removal of the decontamination station including: placement of roadway signs, activation of electronic reader boards, and set up of traffic cones, shelter, and other gear.Minimum Qualifications•High school graduation or GED •SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A valid Montana driver’s license. Physical/Environmental DemandsWork requires considerable time spent outdoors in remote locations in all weather conditions. The outdoor work requires considerable physical exertion such as walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, crawling, and moderate lifting (frequently lifting up to 25 lbs; occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs).
