Parks and Recreation is looking for Customer Service positions that provide various levels of customer service for parks & recreation, aquatics, and other recreation programs.

This position will remain open until filled. Applicant screening will begin on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Essential Functions

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE I

  • Provide customer service to patrons, by phone or in person, at Currents/Parks & Recreation.

  • Process various registrations, daily admissions, and payments through recreation point-of-sale software.

  • Perform daily cash-outs; sell gift cards; administer aquatics membership services.

  • Reserve facilities rentals.

  • Accept and process donations for the department.

  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance functions for the Parks & Recreation facility and immediate work area, including shoveling snow on front entryway, sidewalks, and parking spots.

  • Prepare and print various flyers, announcements, reports, contracts, and various other documents.

  • Update announcement board, welcome sign, and advertisement window.

  • Provide support during emergency situations, such as: assisting with rapid water rescues, first aid, crowd control, etc.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

    CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE II

  • Provide customer service to patrons, by phone or in person, regarding programming, facility policies, and general recreational opportunities at Currents/Parks & Recreation, FMRP, and/or Splash Montana facilities.

  • Serve as Customer Service Leader to ensure quality front-line customer service and accurate and consistent information is provided.

  • Assist with overseeing work assignments and training of various staff, including monitoring shift cleaning completion, according to assigned checklists.

  • Provide membership service support, including upselling services and assisting with monthly renewal membership letters.

  • Reconcile cash irregularities for other cashiers; conduct daily cash-outs; exchange currency for cashiers.

  • Print activity rosters for program staff and daily activities.

  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance functions, including snow removal.

  • Assist with updating department boards (announcements, advertisements, etc.).

  • Provide support during emergency situations, such as: assisting with rapid water rescues, first aid, crowd control, etc.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE III

  • Perform various customer service functions related to registration, admission, reservations, and payments.

  • Serve as Customer Service Leader, at Currents/Parks & Recreation, FMRP, and Splash Montana facilities, to ensure quality front-line customer service and accurate and consistent information is provided.

  • Assist with training aquatics, concessions, and customer service staff in utilizing recreation and point-of-sale software, including reconciling daily cash out, and other various software components.

  • Provide support with onboarding for aquatics, customer service and concessions.

  • Assist in tracking daily attendance.

  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance function, including snow removal.

  • Maintain organization and accurate inventory of equipment, rosters, and supplies.

  • Provide administrative support by taking notes at staff meetings.

  • Assist with updating department boards (announcements, advertisements, etc).

  • Provide support during emergency situations, such as: assisting with rapid water rescues, first aid, crowd control, etc.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of basic office and cash management, including point-of-sale, cash handling, reconciliation, daily deposits, etc.

  • Skill in utilizing various computer software and databases, including Microsoft 365, and the ability to learn job specific applications and equipment.

  • Skill in following oral and written instructions.

  • Skill in multitasking in a fast-paced environment, while providing effective customer service.

  • Skill in communicating, in person and writing, with the ability to establish and maintain positive effective working relationships with diverse individuals.

  • Ability to lead and train staff in a various job-specific areas.

  • Ability to develop and prepare reports, correspondence, and various other documents.

  • Ability to participate in a customer focused and team-oriented environment, contributing as lead and collaborator, when necessary.

  • Ability to maintain and exhibit integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.

  • Ability to maintain and foster a culture of professionalism, adhere to departmental and City standards and specifications, and support a positive team environment.

  • Ability to resolve conflicts with facilitating outcomes while maintaining a calm demeanor.

  • Ability to learn departmental and City of Missoula practices and procedures.

Working Conditions:

  • Position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. or less.

  • Work environment may involve occasional exposure to occupational hazards, biohazards, and physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

  • Duties require the physical ability to occasionally perform bending, pulling, and squatting motions.

  • Position may require schedule flexibility to accommodate opening, closing, and/or weekend shifts.

Qualifications and Additional Application Materials

ALL POSITIONS

  • Must be of legal age to perform the duties of the position.

  • Must have a basic CPR/AED certification, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE I

  • Any combination of training and experience with customer service, point-of-sale transactions, or another relevant field.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE II

  • Any combination of training and education equivalent to six (6) months experience with customer service, point-of-sale transactions, or another relevant field.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE III

  • Any combination of training and education equivalent to one (1) year of experience with customer service, point-of-sale transactions, or another relevant field.

  • Prior experience working at Missoula Parks & Recreation facilities, including Currents, Splash Montana, and Fort Missoula Regional Park, preferred.

  • Experience with Rectrac Software Management, preferred.
