Citigroup Sr. Business Analyst (Capital Markets), VP in Mississauga, Ontario

The IT Business Analyst is a senior-level position responsible for liaising between business users and technologists to exchange information in a concise, logical and understandable way in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to continuous iterative exploration and investigation of business performance and other measures to gain insight and drive business planning.

Experience & Domain/Business Knowledge:

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in Capital Markets domain

  • Domain experience across key business areas – Capital Markets, TCE – GSIB, RWA, STWF, Balance sheet & Capital

  • Process change experience – Agile methodology (Mandatory) and tools

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, SQL, Visualization tools like Qlikview or Tableau will be an advantage.

  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strong Business Analyst skills with a proven track record of identifying business requirements, documenting and delivering them through to implementation.

  • Project Manage delivery of large-scale projects by working with various stakeholders (across multiple technology teams and business heads).

  • Perform data analysis and provide recommendations based on the data.

  • Holding requirement gathering sessions, gaining consensus and creation of meeting minutes.

  • Creation of Business requirement documents, document processes and flow where necessary.

  • Developing detailed requirements, working through solutions and managing execution, performing functional testing and rollout of these solutions, in the context of an overall consistent global platform.

  • Understanding of business, processes, gaps in capabilities, as well as appropriate data sources, interfaces and process changes required to address the gaps.

  • Provide in-depth and sophisticated analyses with interpretive thinking to define problems, develop innovative solutions and influence strategic functional decisions.

  • Identify and communicate risks and impacts and propose risk mitigation options, considering business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment

  • Develop and maintain effective relationship with teams across the organization (Dev, Architecture, BI etc.), ensuring effective delivery of application into the production environment.

  • Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationship, update them on the Project status, issues and risks during the different phases of Project.

  • Lead data sourcing in collaboration with multiple systems and stakeholders.

  • Should be well versed with Agile project methodology

  • Collaborate with dev and QA leads and act as the voice of the business to define sprint goals, participate in agile ceremonies like sprint review, retrospective and jointly address issues related to prioritization, scoping and timelines.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Master's degree preferred
