Position Overview: Under the guidance of the CBD Sr. Director, the Analyst will be responsible for providing on going and ad hoc analytical support to the CBD team to deliver business goals and support account needs. Works collaboratively with the CBD Sr. Director and the CBD Managers to identify and maximize the business opportunities in-store and online. Primary focus will be toward optimizing investment of programs though efficiency and efficacy analysis and providing in-depth POS performance insights for our business and for the category utilizing data sources such as, but not limited to, LDIA Portal, Retail Link, Nielsen, and Microstrategy. This role is also responsible for delivering key competitive and category insights through retail data analytics. Analyst must be able to distill data into digestible, easy to understand formats for internal and external presentations. This is a one year contract position.

Major Duties:

Analytical Support:

  • Providing on going analytical support for (but not limited to): maximizing in-store performance, conducting merchandising and financial analysis, pricing analysis, analyzing POS and GSV, refining channel strategy, optimizing frequency/cadence/depth of activities, go to market strategy for NPD, evaluating/optimizing promotional bundles, and making recommendations that support category growth principles and shopper behaviors.

  • Establishing/maintaining regular cadence of weekly/monthly reporting needed to provide insights into the business performance (POS, Nielsen, etc.) for internal and external meetings that include performance as well as promotional and category context.

  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses including analyzing various points of data within and outside of the company such as performance of business channels, stores, product segments, competitors, and consumers and prepare reports to recommend/support strategic retail planning and execution

  • Ad Hoc CBD analytics in support of continued executional improvements (promo efficiency/efficacy, returns, retailers on hand inventories, soft phase transitions)

  • MDF trade spend and loyalty analysis as it relates to efficiency and ROI measurement

  • Sizing NPD opportunities based on internal and external benchmarks.

  • Contributing to the development of JBP forecasts.

  • Stay up-to-date on industry and market trends in order to correctly interpret data within context and provide accurate market analysis/inputs

  • Analytic support for internal and external meeting presentations

  • Contribute to the financial deduction reconciliation process for SDM/LCL by optimizing the process to be more efficient through automation of reconciliations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years related business experience within the CPG industry; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Background in cosmetics or other sku intensive category preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Required Skills:

  • Advanced experience in Microsoft systems (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)

  • Strong working knowledge of Nielsen (Market Track & Home Scan), data trends interpretation & retail POS data, including direct experience with LDIA and Retail Link

  • Overall, high proficiency with various software products and aptitude to learn new applications

  • Positive, can-do attitude, not easily frustrated during times of ambiguity and change.

  • Proven ability to gather, analyze, summarize and present data, information and conclusions.

  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and anticipate job requirements; takes ownership to resolve issues.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Consumer/Shopper behavior

  • Demonstrated knowledge of key customers, systems and retail strategies

  • Proven ability to plan and execute projects on time while juggling multiple priorities, with a proven ability to set goals and prioritize among many important projects.
