The Rental Specialist is a member of the Toronto Service Center team with the primary goal of exceeding our customer expectations of quality and delivery, while working in a safe and productive manner. Primary duties involve delivering machines to rental customers in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), performing minor repairs and rebuild small cleaning equipment.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for cleaning incoming and outbound machines and preparing the machines for reconditioning. This includes using hand tools and careful cleaning of the machines with a pressure washer.

  • Perform cleaning and preparation of returned Tennant rental equipment.

  • Perform inspections of various shop equipment as required.

  • Maintain shop supply inventory levels, order additional supplies and process expense reports as needed. May require errands to local suppliers as needed and determined by supervisor.

  • Receive and ship equipment while logging data and processing required paperwork.

  • Assists in keeping shop area clean and performing minor and routine maintenance-related activities as directed and assigned by Shop Supervisor.

  • Assists in building maintenance, including keeping shop area and exterior clean while performing minor and routine maintenance-related activities as directed and assigned.

  • Must comply with all Service Center and company procedures, policies, and programs

  • Responsible for proper and safe use, maintenance, and reporting for all Tennant Company property. This includes all tools and equipment.

  • Actively support Lean and Continuous Improvement activities.

  • Consistently present professional image, in personal appearance/behavior and condition of company equipment.

  • Punctuality is a must for this position and individual should have reliable means of transportation to and from work.

  • Follow defined standard work and documented procedures when they are available.

  • Assist mechanics upon request.

  • Perform other Service Center duties as needed and as assigned by Shop Supervisor.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds, with most items weighing between 2 and 20 pounds. Occasionally may be required to lift items weighing up to 90 pounds. Assistance should be provided for items weighing over 60 pounds

  • Position requires sitting, standing, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling

  • Must be able to wear required PPE including safety glasses, safety shoes and additional PPE required for specific tasks (face shield, protective gloves, dust mask, etc.)

  • Must be medically capable of performing all aspects of the job with the maximum amount of safety

    Note: Environmental Exposure:

  • Gasoline, diesel, and LP. Antifreeze, grease, lubricants, cleaning fluids/detergents, and solvents. Battery acid and related fumes. Noise to 87 decibels.

    Required Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, vocational school coursework a plus.

  • Minimum of two years’ work experience

  • Demonstrated experience working in direct contact with customers on service-related activities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Basic understanding and knowledge of how to use a personal computer, including MS Office Suite, email, and proprietary Tennant systems.

  • Good verbal communication skills, customer-centric attitude, and approach.

  • Valid G Ontario Driver’s License plus meet Tennant Company driving policy requirements.
