Citigroup Lead Software Developer (Python & Java) in Mississauga, Ontario

We are currently looking for a talented and passionate python & Java lead developer to lead the engineering initiatives for Rates Structured Notes business.

The role requires a detailed understanding of software design/best practices along with a strong technical ability.

This is an incredible opportunity to build out the next generation of highly performant and highly flexible pricing systems. The team works closely with end users gaining direct exposure to the fast-paced world of front office trading and finance.

The role will include following responsibilities

  • Solve complex architectural and business problems in a clean and scalable manner

  • Apply software engineering best practices to produce high performance Java & python applications

  • Involvement with the full development lifecycle of analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment and support

  • Working directly with Traders and Sales on requirements analysis and capture

  • Coaching and mentoring other team members to setup sound development standards

  • Troubleshooting challenging performance and scalability issues

  • Assisting in third line support during core trading hours

  • Gain knowledge and exposure to Front Office Trading Systems, Fixed Income, Structured Notes and Quant Libraries.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Core Java (8+ years)

  • Python 3 (5+ years)

  • Multi-threading and Synchronization on multicore systems

  • Expert knowledge of the Java stack – Spring, Apache libraries and common open source frameworks

  • Professional knowledge of the Python stack– Pipenv, FastAPI, Diango, Numpy, Pandas, JupyterLab, Requests

  • Solid understanding and proven track record of containerization/Cloud deployments (Kubernetes, OpenShift etc.)

  • Experience with microservices and frameworks

  • Solid understanding of Object Oriented Principles

  • Solid architectural understanding of enterprise applications

  • Agile development experience

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written

  • Good team-work skills, and the ability to work in a distributed global team environment

  • Ability to own and drive new initiatives end to end

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Self-motivated with the determination to achieve his/her goals

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing large financial software trading systems specially in Pricing or Risk domains

  • Experience with complex high performance distributed systems & messaging

  • Testing frameworks (e.g. JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber)

  • Continuous Integration tools (e.g. Jenkins, TeamCity, Sonar)

  • Distributed Cache (e.g. Gemfire, Redis)

  • Experience with Unix / Linux
