Citigroup Lead Java developer, VP in Mississauga, Ontario

This is a lead position with expert level hands on development skills in Java. The candidate should have 8 to 13 years of experience in Java/J2EE technologies and application development. Lead Java developer will be involved in the development and delivery of new features on Citi1Credit platform. The candidate is expected to understand business requirements, manage various stake holders, lead the design and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users.

  • Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to solve complex problems and issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement.

  • Lead a team of technologists.

  • Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and install and assist customer exposure systems.

  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes.

  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.

  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.

  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge on Core Java 8, Spring (Core, MVC, JDBC), JDBC/JPA/ORM, JSON

  • Experience in leading a team developers

  • Experience in Web API implementations with RESTful services

  • Knowledge of SQL queries, stored procedures, indexes, triggers

  • Strong knowledge on build (Ant/Maven), continuous integration (Jenkins), code quality analysis (SonarQube) and unit and integration testing (JUnit)

Qualifications:

  • 8-13 years of development experience in Java/J2EE

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a development lead

  • Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications

  • Experience in managing and implementing successful projects

  • Working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
