WESCO Customs Supervisor in Mississauga, Ontario
As the Customs Supervisor, you will supervise a team that conducts complex data analysis on imports and exports and administers daily workflow. You will serve as the liaison with government agencies to implement control protocols to optimize imports and exports in specific country or countries.
Responsibilities:
Set goals for work group, supervise execution, and measures results
Select, supervise, evaluate, and develop staff. Provide staff with coaching, feedback, and development opportunities
Maintain H.S. code databases for imports and exports
Maintain and develop business relationships with suppliers/sales team
Expedite custom releases with the team to ensure on time delivery
Collect Free Trade Certificates from material vendors to minimize duty impact and ensure compliance
Handle customs broker and duty payment, including pre and post audits
Refund and voluntary duty drawbacks with local custom agencies
Support LEAN customs initiatives to drive expense reduction, duty recovery, process improvement, and delivery performance
Keep abreast of government regulatory agencies and rulings
Qualifications:
Associate degree (U.S.)/College Diploma (Canada) required
Licenses/Certificates/Designations – Canada Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) required
Licenses/Certificates/Designations - Canada Certified Logistics Professional (CITT/CCLP), or Canada Professional Freight Forwarder (CIFFA/PPF) preferred
6+ years required of transportation, customs, logistics or supply chain
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated
Pertinent laws, codes, and regulations
Strong computer skills (SharePoint, Transportation & customs-specific systems)
Knowledge of Tariff Classification
WESCOM, Tandem, general database knowledge preferred
Experience leading a project/team preferred
