Southern Glazer's offers a competitive package with annual compensation of $100-125K. plus, incentives. In determining a final offer, the company will evaluate educations, skills and experience and make an offer appropriately.

Overview

This leader is responsible for the development, implementation and management of SGWS Fleet Safety programs in conjunction with Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance and Operational risk mitigation objectives. Throughout the successful roll out of these programs, you will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including Environmental Health & Safety, Operations, Legal, Technology, among other critical business functions and leadership. This is a remote position with 50% travel

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading National Fleet Safety strategy and compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).

  • Partner with Fleet Safey Field Operations leadership to ensure DOT in-scope KPI’s are met or action plans in place.

  • Telematics coaching / utilization monitoring

  • Defensive Driving Training / monitoring

  • Driver / Asset performance

  • Research, design, establish, and implement enterprise-wide policies and processes to reduce vehicle collisions and prevent injuries.

  • Develop framework and implementation to support a “Vehicle Incident Review Board” for determining “preventability” and corrective actions.

  • Report vehicle incident investigation data and findings to functional leadership and direct appropriate corrective actions to minimize or eliminate injuries and collisions.

  • Directly responsible for the reconciliation of DOT compliance related solutions

Additional Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with EHS leadership and Corporate EHS team in developing vehicle collision reduction programs and injury reduction programs for CDL driver population.

  • Develop DOT compliance audit programs and assure national implementation.

  • Research, initiate, promote, monitor, and improve division fleet safety programs.

  • Monitor Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and Electronic Vehicle Inspection Reports (EDVIR) for compliance with FMCSR and Company policies across all divisions.

  • Ensure fleet safety resources communicate pre-shift weekly safety messages to transportation associates.

  • Ensure fleet safety professionals competently complete DOT regulatory training for sites, including driver qualification, hours-of-service, driver vehicle inspection reports, and drug/alcohol testing.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Health & Safety, or related degree

  • Five (5) years practical experience in interpreting, monitoring, and explaining USDOT – FMCSA regulations. (CFR – Title 49)

  • Experience performing DOT FMCSA Compliance Audits and interacting with State/Federal regulatory agencies

  • Smith System Driving Instructor course or complete within six months of hire

  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) or Associated Safety Professional (ASP) certified by American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) to be completed within two years of hire

  • Experience developing a vehicle collision reduction programs and injury reduction programs for CMV drivers, including coaching and mentoring driver behaviors

  • Experience with the FMCSA Clearinghouse adjudication process

  • Experienced with Driver Camera Systems, Telematics, and Accident Analysis software’s

  • Ability to locate and interpret FMCSA regulations

  • Able to communicate effectively with different levels of the organization

  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or mobile device

  • Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping

  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
