Apply for Job Job ID366238 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyCampus Operations Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code8422PT Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job Responsibilities 30% Respond to Automated Pay Machine and other Equipment Issues (Complete Facility Checks and Respond to Equipment Issues) * Perform daily tours of staffed parking facilities. * Check operation of all equipment onsite including automated pay machines. * Respond to any reports of malfunctions and troubleshoot potential causes of malfunctions. * Report malfunctions and issues that cannot be solved. * Ensure that adequate supplies and tickets are available for their area's facilities. * Greet and talk with each attendant on site while conducting tours to assess performance, check paperwork, answer questions, and promote communication. * Perform on-the-spot training or coaching as necessary. * Monitors video system for issues and maintenance concerns in University parking facilities. 20% Supervise parking attendants * Schedule the hours of work for parking attendants in their area. * Alter assignments to maintain appropriate coverage on a day-to-day basis to attend to service needs. * Interview and hire parking attendants. * Orient, train, coach, discipline, and evaluate staff in the operation of parking facilities. * Administer labor contracts, and University and departmental policies. * Maintain personnel record cards for student parking attendants. * Recommend changes to the master staffing plan. * Schedule and lead bi-monthly attendant meetings. * Follow department protocol for dealing with emergencies including notification of attendants and closeout procedures. 15% Determine parking usage in facilities based on supply and demand * Enforce policies and procedures. * Utilize departmental PARCS (Parking Access Revenue Control System) to monitor space, adjust counts and provide usable space to all users of parking facilities. * Inform the Assistant Director of Public Parking of problems, complaints, and unusual occurrences in the area. * Operate and effectively use the department's technology including scheduler, electronic payroll and parking access control systems, supervisory reports in AS400, ticket tracking system, safe cash reconciliation system, over-short reports, Windows operating system, MS Office (Word and Excel), and other systems. 15% Provide customer service to patrons utilizing parking facilities * Deal effectively with difficult customers to resolve problems. * Work to find the best parking solution for customers or direct them to appropriate personnel or resources. * Look for ways to improve efficiency and service levels. * Attend training sessions or seminars to improve performance. * Report any recommendations for changes in policies and/or operating procedures to the Assistant Director of Public Parking. * Serve as back up to customer service and call center functions as needed. * Attend meetings and follow up with customer departments regarding parking needs. 10% Assist with financial investigations * Coordinate the collection of monies and report sheets from parking facilities. * Work in connection with the departmental accounting staff to investigate cash control. procedural problems, errors, and potential theft. * Conduct spot audits or other types of audits when requested. * Work with attendants to ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed. 10% Assist with other parking functions as needed Qualifications Minimum Qualifications * BA/BS with at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six years; position involves comparing, verifying and reconciling data to help department achieve overall objectives. * Two years of experience in the operation of parking facilities with at least one-year involving supervision. * A valid driver's license is required. Preferred Qualifications * Ability to identify departmental prior ties and make decisions to ensure work efforts and resources are employed appropriately. * Ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse customer base and work force. * Experience leading effectively and working collaboratively with staff in a unionized setting. * Personal characteristics that distinguish the incumbent as being an effective leader: team builder, customer-driven, decisive, results-oriented, and committed to improvement. * Highly developed conflict management, negotiation and problem resolution skills. * Proven written, verbal, interpersonal and persuasion skills. * Ability to balance multiple work demands and to thrive in a changing environment. * Knowledge of large-scale parking operations principles and practices; knowledge of parking systems including parking access control software and hardware, AS400 systems, and related systems is desirable. * Well-developed computer proficiency in effectively using MS Office Suite software for work initiatives. * Skill in using computerized scheduling software to track personnel.
