Primary Responsibilities HDR Engineering is currently seeking a Transmission Line EIT/Coordinator to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals. The successful candidate will have 1+ years of overhead transmission line design experience and will be an integral part of a team that executes technical design on high voltage transmission line engineering projects ranging in scale from simple structure replacements to large greenfield design projects. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a self-directed individual who is eager to learn and take on new challenges. The primary duties of a Transmission Line EIT/Coordinator include preparation of designs, models, calculations, analyses, reports and engineering drawings for high voltage transmission lines under the direction and supervision of more senior engineers and designers. Duties may include: Work under the direction of Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s). Conduct analyses to develop design options, perform modeling and/or calculations, and prepare deliverables including reports and drawings, in accordance with national codes and project specifications and requirements. Actively coordinates with internal and external team members on projects. Work with Designers or CAD Technicians to develop drawings. Assist with preparing cost estimates or specifications. Participate in field walks or construction supports. Other duties as assigned. Typical designs include PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure spotting, structure design, conductor selection, sag and tension, blowout calculation, foundation design, hardware selection and fit-up, and development of bill of materials. Designs must also consider environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, public involvement, access roads, and construction requirements. Design drawings may include plan & profile, load tree, structure configuration, stringing chart, etc. Occasional short-term travel (typically 1-2 days) may be necessary. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or other related engineering degree Familiarity with PLS-CADD software suite Proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of Microstation and/or AutoCAD a plus Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Strong attention to details and organizational skills. Self-motivated and ability to take initiative. Strong computer skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must Preferred Qualifications Experience working in the consulting or utility environment. EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of 'Coordinator' and be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression. Knowledge of NESC, ACI, ASCE and AISC codes. Knowledge of LPile or MFAD and understanding of geotechnical reports.
