HDR Engineering is looking for a Substation Project Manager Team Lead to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals. The primary duties of the Substation PM Team Leader are to supervise, lead, and grow a team of substation project managers, oversee execution of a portfolio of power delivery services in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and to deliver world class services to clients in the region. The successful candidate will have broad technical knowledge and experience with design and construction of high voltage electrical switchyard and substation projects up to 500kV. The PM Team Lead is an experienced, competent leader who has a background in substation design engineering. The successful candidate will have some combination of leadership, project management, and technical management experience. Primary Responsibilities Team Leadership Responsible for operational management and direct supervision of a substation Project Manager team; provide oversight on workload, quality, utilization, team morale, training, and coaching and counseling of team members Provide leadership and project oversight to ensure projects are staffed appropriately and the team is properly executing project work, both internally and externally Establish a network of relationships with technical peers in other offices and leverage those relationships and resources in work-sharing opportunities Manage workload and utilizations for the team to meet operating goals, including maintaining up to date and accurate workload and utilization forecasting Work with local and regional operations and national leadership to build capabilities through recruitment and staff training Project Manager Develop and implement a project execution plan for the technical aspect of projects Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to project team members Support the technical aspect of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management Coordinate and/or perform quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables per the HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures to deliver a world class quality product to the client. Perform quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams on an as needed basis Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different geographic locations Perform other duties as needed Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree 10 years of engineering experience, including project management 4 years of substation experience 2 years consulting experience Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Flexibility for some travel An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture Local to the St. Louis Park, MN office location Preferred Qualifications Prior team management experience Prior consulting experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering PMP certificate Why HDR At HDR, we know work isn't only about who you work for it's also about what you do and how you do it.
