ABOUT YOU:

The Sr. Event Planner position is responsible for meeting business objectives by creating innovative, quality events and conventions that align with organizational strategies. Events and conventions include internal business meetings, customer events, national convention exhibits and others as assigned.

YOU HAVE:

  • Passion. Enthusiastic, motivated, and very collaborative work style.

  • Technical skills. Very strong and well-versed contract and vendor negotiating skills. Problem solving with regarding to anticipating, initiating, and resolving issues.

  • Attention to detail. Strong capacity for creative, innovative, strategic, and conceptual thinking; ability to contribute creative ideas to program planning. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.

  • Great communication skills. Ability to present, converse with all levels of personnel. Ability to work independently as well as within a team structure. Building positive client relationships. Excellent personal, verbal communication and customer service skills.

  • Experience. 7+ years working in the events and convention industry. Must have knowledge of hotel/convention facility operations (convention space, catering, and A/V) and hotel reservation system operations.

  • Education. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Preferred CMP (Certified Meeting Planner) credentials.

  • Travel. Ability to travel as needed, including weekends. Approximately 20% travel.

YOU WILL:

  • Support. Assist in strategically planning and executing proprietary Jostens customer and corporate events in both “live” and “virtual” environments including site/technology inspection, off-site activities, transportation, hotel arrangements, vendor contract negotiations, budget preparation and monitoring, onsite management, food and beverage and financial reconciliation.

  • Update and maintain. Maintain documentation needed for each event, including program schedules, reports, agendas, budgets, and other materials as needed.

  • Develop. Assists with planning and preparation of incentive programs and Salesforce and employee recognition programs. Coordinate internal and external related communications.

  • Find. Assist with event location sourcing for smaller programs and with event contract negotiations on select events.

  • Lead. Serve as lead on selected projects and as a supporting team member on others. The Lead role provides direction to industry partners and contractors to complete the assigned projects.
