Fairview Health Services Senior Analytics Engineer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Overview

The Analytics Engineer role is responsible to build design, develop, and maintain data visualization and queries for a multi-tier, high-end business application. This position will work with customers and internal subject matter experts to design reporting specifications. This position will be responsible for data consolidation, data analysis and management reporting. This role is key in leading initiatives providing reporting and visualization into system level clinical and financial performance. Creates data visualization based on requirements submitted by various departments within Fairview. Identify issues and opportunities to enhance data management reporting and is responsible for both detailed and high-level problem solving, data analysis, data extraction and data visualization.

This role works independently to design, document, and develop solutions to deliver data and analytics to clinical and operational senior and executive leaders. Senior team members may also work independently with strategic partners, assuring that any deliverables and data sharing conform with Fairview’s standards and adhere to our legal and regulatory obligations. This team-member will operate under a SLDC model, leveraging best practices in development, testing, and deployment of data and analytics solutions. Senior team members will be the primary resource in conducting peer review of team members work product prior to user acceptance testing. Candidates will have experience in completing requirements gathering efforts prior to documentation and design efforts. Candidates will have demonstrated a logical and analytical mindset when problem solving. As this role will directly interface with clinical, operational, and executive leaders, both in requirements gathering, as well as technical support, excellent customer service skills are critical. Experience with healthcare data, and its unique terminology, will be critical to efficiently delivering solutions to consumers.

Responsibilities Job Description

  • Leads discussions with clinical and operational teams and leadership to design analytic reports using electronic medical record data, claims, and other data sources.

  • Coach other analytic engineers in the principles and technologies used by the Data Reporting and Analytics organization to support team member proficiency and development.

  • Acts as an expert in defining requirements, data validation, and supervision of report development to support enterprise analytics, statistics, predictive modeling and external data submissions.

  • Work directly and independently with the Analyst, Data Modelers and/or ETL Developers to create meaningful and actionable content for the enterprise.

  • Analyzes, visualizes, and models data to provide insight and actionable recommendations independently.

  • Partner with data scientists, operational teams, and researchers to develop and implement algorithms for performing predictive and prescriptive analytics.

  • Applies appropriate tests to analytical results to provide high quality and accurate results.

  • Leads the review process of data sent to external vendors by Fairview. Includes working directly with the external vendors to understand the business rules applicable to the data extracts.

  • Utilizes expertise when researching and reviewing benchmarking data for comparison, validation, and utilization. Identifies areas for greatest opportunity for intervention.

  • Creates concise, senior level written narrative summaries that outline project purpose, methodology, summary of findings, trends of interest, and opportunities for consideration.

  • Provides technical, analytical, and business guidance and expertise to operational team members and other departments with Fairview.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience is required

  • 5+ years of demonstrated analytical skills with high attention to detail and quality

  • 5+ years of demonstrated technical and interpersonal communication skills

  • 5+ years of demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills

  • 5+ years of demonstrated ability to effectively manage and organize multiple projects and responsibilities.

  • 5+ years of SQL(PL/SQL or T-SQL) and Crystal report or PowerBI reporting experience.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated strong quantitative and analytic skills.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated ability to think creatively and work collaboratively to address problems.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated ability to write and present data visualization and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a Clinical field, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other quantitative discipline preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare data analysis and/or report writing

  • Experience with reporting Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) within an enterprise Electronic Health Record (EHR).
