Job ID352186 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyResearch-Researchers Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9742R5 Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job The Motor Neurophysiology Laboratory in the Department of Neurology, directed by Scott Cooper, PhD, MD, is an NIH-funded research program that studies the extrapyramidal motor system in human subjects with an emphasis on disease states and neurosurgical therapies. The lab's focus is on the basal ganglia (BG) and on Parkinson's disease (PD) with most of the work centered on deep brain stimulation (DBS). DBS is used as a tool to understand BG physiology and, especially, PD pathophysiology; in addition, DBS therapeutic mechanisms are a major subject of investigation. The research has a strong translational slant aimed at developing improved approaches to DBS and neuromodulation. Job Duties/Responsibilities: 100% - Designing and implementing experimental protocols - Conducting experiments - Curating and analyzing data - Coordinating across multiple collaborating labs - Collaborate with drafting publications. Info available here: https://udall.umn.edu/ Qualifications Required Qualifications: PhD, MD, or equivalent degree with a record of outstanding training (at least one year) in one or more of the following areas: - Kinesiology, Human movement science, Biomechanics - Parkinson's disease, deep brain stimulation, neuromodulation (human subjects) - Computational modeling (of neural systems), Machine learning, Advanced optimization - MRI, Image analysis Applicants should have background in one or more of these areas and willingness to acquire skills in one or more of the others, but not necessarily all.
