The incumbent is expected to take creative initiative according to the goals outlined in the PI's grants, as well as fostering and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with other labs in the context of the funded work. Responsibilities: Design and execute experiments; draft and submit high-quality journal publications on the data (60%) Manage laboratory resources and daily operations (25%) Supervise/train research assistants and laboratory personnel (15%) Qualifications Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or closely related field Strong stem cell culture and cardiomyocyte differentiation skills 4+ years of hands-on laboratory experience standard methods in molecular biology Preferred: Strong analytical and technical skills with research and/or laboratory experience in cell and molecular biology techniques Prior demonstrable leadership experience managing teams in a research context. Incumbent is expected to consistently demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, professional reliability, organizational & management skills, attention to detail, self- motivation, and ability to follow and develop protocols and develop new protocols. About the Department The Department of Biomedical Engineering is an academic unit of the College of Science and Engineering that administers biomedical engineering degree programs at all levels (bachelor's, master's, and doctoral). While research possibilities among the graduate faculty span the full spectrum of biomedical engineering, the Department has established interests in cardiovascular, neural, and cancer engineering.
