Job ID354970 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyResearch-Researchers Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code8352R2 Employee ClassCivil Service About the Job We are seeking a Researcher 2 with skills in laboratory animal procedures who is also interested and willing to practice and grow capabilities and experience in regulated research and laboratory administration. Participate with a team of professionals to support University investigators to translate their discoveries into clinical trials and treatments for patients. DUTIES Laboratory Research (80%) Work with numerous species of laboratory research animals in compliance with animal welfare protocols for each project which are approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Advise on use of animal models and health monitoring of all species on approved protocols Document laboratory procedures to the standard required to reconstruct the study from the information recorded at the time of performance Maintain study records according to laboratory procedures for quality assurance review and filing Contribute to study design, execution, analysis, and reporting Clear, timely, and effective communication with department clients and service providers Administrative Support (20%) Review species and procedure requirements for animal studies, contribute and review content of IACUC protocols to ensure complete data acquisition and compliance with University policies and procedures Maintain current revisions of Standard Operating Procedures and forms Project reporting assistance with templates, content, review, and editing Project client communication in meetings, and in e-mail correspondence and reporting Qualifications All required qualifications must be documented on application materials REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BS/BA and 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience to equal 5 years. Demonstrated experience with laboratory research animals; willing and able to work with of any of several species which may be required for the development of products facilitated by our organization Occasional weekend or holiday shifts may be required for treatment administration and/or health monitoring of laboratory animals, a responsibility shared with other research staff Demonstrated experience conducting training and coaching sessions for animal handling proficiency PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with additional certification in laboratory animal research Experience in a laboratory conducting GLP compliant studies Skilled and experienced with word processing and spreadsheet applications (Word and Excel) About the Department The Center for Translational Medicine (CTM) in the Office of Academic and Clinical Affairs provides a spectrum of research, testing, and advisory services to inventors of novel medicines, therapies and devices from early stage proof of concept models through the final stages of preclinical testing and into early clinical trials.
